Livorno for Foodies
We take a stroll along the tiny canals and bridges of the "Little Venice" neighborhood and then go visit the "Mercato delle Vettovaglie" the largest indoor food market in Italy. Here you are greeted by local vendors, who speak only the Livornese vernacular, who offer the freshest local seafood, the best local charcuterie and cured meats.
We can savor some piping hot "frati" (donuts) while we follow the trail scent of fragrant "schiacciata," a local flatbread, and the just baked Tuscan bread loaves, and taste them.
To refresh our throat we taste unusual beers at the Livornese microbrewery which has gained top awards for both its different beers and for its unique labels.
We end up our tour driving to a scenic hilltop with a picturesque view of the city coastline where we taste some local honeys at a family owned beekeeping, followed by a picnic where we relax and enjoy food and beverages.
This is an experience to be remembered, as you discover this enchanting side of Tuscany (by the sea)!
An Epicurean Experience
Welcome to my cozy nook in Livorno, my hometown. Foodies like me can indulge in the local flavors and products that I select out of this stunning coastal area. As a professional sommelier, I cherish pairing wines and beers with food, especially the most typical specialties from my area.
I will greet you offering bites of schiacciata (a local flatbread) and Tuscan bread drizzled with drops of locally produced extra virgin olive oil. All of the above will be savored with the most prized cured meats, including soppressata, aged prosciutto, salame, and various types of local sausages. No Tuscan feast would be complete without a selection of cow, goat, and sheep cheeses (made in a local cheese-facility), especially the most typical Tuscan one: "pecorino". To add a touch of sweetness to the cheese's savory flavors, I'll provide you with a selection of honeys from local family-owned beekeepings.
Everything will be enjoyed with wines of the nearby Etruscan Coast and unique beers from well renowned local microbreweries.
We will finish off with a century-old herbal digestif and, if you are in the mood, with a post-meal stroll on the beach, just 7 minutes walking distance from my place.
Join me for a sensual and fulfilling epicurean experience. Your taste buds will thank you!

A Tour of the Etruscan Coast
Join me to explore some of the best undiscovered gems on the coastal side of Tuscany named the Etruscan coast ( the Etruscans were an ancient civilization that lived in this area for over a thousand years). In this tour I introduce you to local, family owned operations in the wine, beer and food field that impressed me for the quality of their products and the passion for the territory that they show.
We will start our day at the meeting point and drive along the stunning coastal road that starts in Livorno, and we reach a family owned microbrewery, then a tiny apiculture where we taste several honeys made in different parts of this area, and enjoy their beautiful location. Then we proceed to visit an olive oil mill, highly renowned in this area for the quality of their extra virgin olive oil. After savoring the top of their production, we continue our journey to visit an off-the-beaten-path winery, hidden from the main roads, owned by a family highly reputed in the Italian wine scene. You can taste samples of their very limited yet prestigious production which represents what this territory has to offer. Afterwards we have lunch in a nearby village at a highly regarded butcher shop and trattoria, very much acclaimed for the philosophy that the owner carries about animals treatment and the ecosystem that surrounds the quality of livestock. The owner is always eager to explain his philosophy!
A memorable journey far from the crowd!
